Google's latest and most premium earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro, are now available for pre-order in several countries including the US and Canada.

Whether picking up the Pixel 6a or not, there's another Google product that's now available for pre-order and worth checking out — the Pixel Buds Pro. Announced alongside the Pixel 6a at Google I/O, the new Pixel earbuds work with a variety of different smartphones, making them a good option whether using a Pixel phone or any other Android phone.

The Pixel Buds Pro are Google's third pair of truly wireless earbuds following the release of the Pixel Buds A and the original Pixel Buds. They are also positioned as Google's answer to premium earbuds from its competitors such as Apple's AirPods Pro, Samsung's Galaxy Buds Pro, and even Sony's more affordable earbuds, the LinkBuds S.

The Pixel Buds Pro are Google's most expensive earbuds to date. For $199 (or $33.33 per month), they can be pre-ordered from the Google Store in the US. They are also available to order in Canada for CA$259, in Ireland, France, and Germany for €219, and in the UK for £179. The ability to pre-order also extends to Australia where they are priced at A$299 and Japan where they sell for¥23,800.

The Pixel Buds Pro are available in Coral, Fog, Charcoal, and Lemongrass colors. However, these colors only apply to the outer part of the earbuds and they all come in the same white carrying case. The Pixel Buds Pro connect via Bluetooth 5.0 and are compatible with all Bluetooth 4.0+ devices including those running iOS and Windows. As to be expected, features like hands-free 'Hey Google' and real-time translation are only available on Android.

Google's newest earbuds have an in-ear design with removable silicone tips that mold to the shape of the wearer's ears. The Buds Pro also feature sensors that measure the pressure inside the ear canal and adjust so that they remain comfortable when worn for long periods. They have an IPX4 rating for sweat resistance while the carrying case is rated IPX2, and each earbud has a custom-made 11mm driver. Unlike the Pixel Buds and Pixel Buds A, the latest model come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and a transparency mode.

Another notable feature is Volume EQ, which automatically tunes the earbuds for a balanced listening experience when the user adjusts the volume. While the Pixel Buds Pro currently lack Spatial Audio, this will be added in the future via an update. In terms of battery life, the Pixel Buds Pro are rated to last 7 hours with ANC on (11 hours with ANC turned off) and this can be increased up to 20 hours (31 hours with ANC off) with the carrying case. The Pixel Buds Pro also support USB-C charging, Qi wireless charging and Fast Pair.
