OnePlus takes a break from earbuds with the Bullets Wireless Z2 neckband earphones that offer some great features at an affordable price.

The Bullets Wireless Z2 are the latest neckband-style earphones from OnePlus and they pack impressive features at an affordable price. Wireless earbuds are the norm these days, thanks in large part to the lack of a headphone jack on most modern smartphones. Earphones come in different shapes, sizes, and colors, and can go for as little as $20 or cost more than $200.

Even though there are plenty of options in the market, not all users may find wireless earbuds comfortable. For them, other forms of wireless headphones such as a neckband or over-ear style could be more suitable. Unlike wireless earbuds, users who choose neckband-style headphones have to deal with just a single unit connected by a band or strap. This also makes them less likely to be misplaced. Only a few brands still make the neckband type of wireless headphones, and OnePlus is among them.

The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 largely retain the design of the Bullets Wireless Z launched back in 2020 but there are a few differences. The ear tips are somewhat wider, and OnePlus says that the silicone material used for the neck strap has been updated to be more skin-friendly. The headphones have an IP55-rating for water and sweat resistance. Unlike the Bullets Wireless Z that launched in four colors, OnePlus has announced just two color options this time, Magico Black and Beam Blue.

OnePlus has equipped the Bullets Wireless Z2 with 12.4 mm dynamic bass drivers, the biggest on any of its earphones. The larger drivers should translate to a better audio experience than the previous generation. In addition, the headphones have AI noise cancellation which dynamically adjusts the microphone's call noise reduction and boasts an AI scene-model algorithm that eliminates ambient noise. The Bullets Wireless Z2 headphones have an in-line remote for controlling playback, volume, and calls. The earbuds also have magnetic controls to pause and resume playback when attached or separated.

The Bullets Wireless Z2 connect via Bluetooth 5.0, have a transmission range of 10 meters, and support OnePlus Fast Pair on OnePlus smartphones. However, the biggest selling points of the new headphones is the battery life and support for fast charging. OnePlus advertises a battery life of up to 30 hours on a single charge (16 hours of talk time and 80 hours of standby time). When low, a 10-minute charge with a 5V 2A adapter will provide up to 20 hours of audio playback.

The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 are only available in India for now with a price tag of around $26. However, all hope is not lost for a wider rollout as a statement on the product page reads “...differences exist between regional variants,” suggesting versions for other regions which will likely be announced in the future. For now, those in the U.S. who prefer wireless earbuds can pick up the OnePlus Buds Pro which are now available in a new silver color option.
