Listening to music on one's smartphone with a headphone jack is slowly being phased out of existence; nevertheless, OnePlus has launched some new Nord-series handsets with the port as necessary as a sort of novelty. Then again, it is less so today with the low-key launch of the Nord Wired Earphones 3.5mm.

The new accessories also rock the eponymous jack as a unique selling point, at the end of a 1.2 meter (m) cable. Then again, with a frequency response of 20-20,000Hz, a 106±2dB sensitivity rating and 9.2mm drivers, the rest of their specs are distinctly average.

The much older Sony MDR-E9LPs, by comparison, have an 18-22,000Hz frequency response, a sensitivity of 104dB and 13.5mm drivers. Then again, the new Nord Wired Earphones have OnePlus' signature, "CD design" for their outer bud covers, which are also magnetic to allow the user to manage them when not in use.

The earphones have also been conferred with an official IPX4 ingress-protection and physical in-line controls with volume buttons. They are available on the OEM's own European and UK webstores, starting at €19.99 or £19.99 respectively.
